How ranks work, briefly
Competitive ranks go Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Emerald, Diamond, Master, Grandmaster and Champion, each divided into divisions. Your rank changes as you win and lose. You do not need to understand the exact maths. Focus on playing your role well.
Beginner ranked tips
- Queue with a role and hero you are comfortable with.
- Play the objective. Kills without progress do not win rounds.
- Mute anyone being unpleasant and keep playing.
- Do not chase revenge kills.
- Take a break after a bad streak.

Common questions
Is Competitive harder than Quick Play?
Usually, yes. Players take the objective more seriously and coordinate more. That is why many newer players enjoy building comfort in Quick Play first.
Do I lose something by playing Competitive too early?
Nothing permanent. Your rank adjusts as you play. Still, wins are more enjoyable when the basics feel automatic.
